I thought a simple but potentially easy feature I could do sporadically without a lot of effort, but hopefully with some value, would be to post up some of the little germs of story ideas that pop into my head that I don't personally plan on using.
If they inspire someone else, they're still useful. If they simply inspire amusement or ridicule among my readers, then they're also useful that way.
Scott's been talking about writing a mystery over at the Literary Lab, so that's probably what got my brain started down this path. I love black licorice just about more than any sweet other than marzipan. That's probably what sealed the deal.
So here you go, aspiring mystery writer, here's your murder:
Death by poison licorice pipe. What's more sinister than poisoned candy? The ultimate corruption of sweetness and innocence. And it seems like there's also potential for the discoloration of the lip and mouth to obscure some physical evidence. Maybe there's something that only becomes toxic when combine with licorice. Or something who presence might be masked by the presence of large amounts of licorice in the body.
Strangely, I think I need to find myself a licorice pipe. To eat. I mean. To eat.
.Nevets.
Ended up with licorice tea rather than a licorice pipe...
ReplyDeletePoint the first: I find licorice nauseating.
ReplyDeletePoint the second: I do like tea.
