"Exterminate"
by C. N. Nevets
'Exterminate! Exterminate!'
'You'd like to do that wouldn't you?' remarked the dapper Doctor. 'It is, after all, the only thing you're good at – extermination, killing, destruction.'
'And snogging home appliances,' added Rose.
'Weeeeeeeell, yes, and that,' agreed the Doctor.
'Exterminate!'
'You say “exterminate” an awful lot for someone who does as relatively little extermination as you're doing at the moment,' pointed out the Doctor. 'Rather like the boy who cried Slitheen. You know, I saw a Slitheen cry once. Great, smelly tears. Sort of oily and green. Unpleasant to say the least.' The Doctor shuddered.
'Exterminate!'
'You do keep saying,' complained Rose.
Suddenly, the Dalek fired – only it did not fire a laser beam or sort of weapon. It fired a stream of water at the Doctor's sonic screwdriver, which was glowing a rather candle-like fashion.
'No smoking! Exterminate!'
Oh, I did enjoy and do so love this.
ReplyDeleteFor Script Frenzy this year, my 14 year old and my husband wrote a 10th Doctor and Martha episode of their own- featuring the Daleks. So this of course has to be a sentimental for me.
Great work, Nevets! Thanks for posting it.
New website, eh?
~bru
ugh, I meant to say a 'sentimental favorite'. I am still only two-thirds with it, sorry LOL.
ReplyDeleteThis was a good one, although there are tons more you've written on FF that I consider masterpieces! Just sayin'... And you've had some gems of late.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed, Bru.
ReplyDeleteDeb, thank you so much! And I know you mean it, too. Actually, I do like the flash fiction format, and I think my style lends itself well to it. I also really enjoy the challenge of responding to random prompts. Maybe someday I'll publish a compendium of my best flash from FF.
The new website (I said it again!) will have several on it that I think are solid. Five for now, maybe more later, posted up as downloadable .PDF files.
And, Bru, no apologies necessary! I've read enough of your blog to know that you at 66% is still sharper than most of us at 100%.
ReplyDeleteNevets,
ReplyDeleteI was just on the Literary Lab blog and I saw the great discussion you took part in on the Whither the Author-Artiste post. I really enjoyed the discussion and I thought I'd stop by here.
"Snogging home appliances" - HA!
I've subscribed and i look forward to your posts.
Welcome, Mayowa! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy it.
