Nevetsize Your Halloween!

All---

There are several good conversations still on-going on the past couple days posts, so feel free to pop back there and catch up and voice in.  But I'm going to take a break from the deep stuff tonight and talk about the goodies.

This is your chance to Nevetsize your Halloween!  Would could be creepier than a Nevets-style ghost story on Halloween?  One ~300 words long written to your specifications!  Your request could be anything, from something simple like, "Yo, I wanna ghos' innit, 'n' I don' wan' nobody to die," to something complicated like, "Please, I would like to request I story in which my dog features prominently and also there is a man and also there is a goblin and I want it to being with the word 'cherubs' and end with the word 'Gloucester.'  Thank you."

I know what's better!  Also received a signed printed copy in time of the holiday.

And I also know what else is better -- also receiving a CD or digital file of me reading that story!

For those of my readers residing in countries or within cultures that don't celebrate Halloween -- guess what!  You can still win!  Just tell me the date of an appropriately ghost- or fear-oriented holiday where you're from, and that's what will be Nevetsized instead!  Nevetsize Hungry Ghost Day?  Why not!  You tell me!

Oh but it doesn't stop there!  You can complete your Nevetsized spooky holiday with a Nevetesized mug of your favorite beverage.  The mug is B&W and says, "All this may be a delusion, and everything I know and believe may be a lie. The world may be about to crash down around me and crush what I once called my soul. But that doesn't mean you can use my mug."

Or, if you'd rather, you can chose to complete your holiday by cuddling a darling little Teddy Bear whose shirt says, "My cuteness is an inverse externalization of my inner angst."

How do you qualify?  It's easy!

1) Don't be a bot or spammer, unless you're an actual robot, which would be super cool.
2) Post a comment on this post.  Whatever you want to say!  As little or as much you'd like.

That's it!

Want to increase your odds?  I don't care if you follow me or talk about me or anything like that.  But I do hope you read my stories.  So if you want to increase your odds, you can post a comment, saying anything about any of the stories that are posted or linked on www.Nevets-QST.com.  Just make it something that shows you read it, and make it something different from what someone else has said.

So it's time, ladies, gentlemen, and really cool robots.  Nevetsize your Halloween-approximation!

.Nevets.

  1. I don't really do Halloween but do you know what I forgot to do? I forgot to download Genre Wars. I'm going to rectify that immediately.

  2. @Clarissa - I don't honestly do much for Halloween myself, except give kids candy and maybe sit by a fire for a while. This year I'm on call with the ambulance, so who knows. lol

Anyway, the prizes can still be yours even if you don't do the holiday.

And thanks for supporting Genre Wars!

  3. Hello Darling! Since I have two little kids, Halloween is a pretty big deal around here. Love the contest, and I have a true (personally experienced)southern ghost story for you.

BTW - Vengence and the Offending Page is one of the most brilliant short stories I've ever read. As someone who has experinced suicide grief (brother), I totally understand the reaction. It's flawless.

  4. Hey there! Thanks for your comments through last week on my blog while my computer was down.

as I was reading this I think you'd be great at advertisements...lol you really sale your material which is a neat ability. The teddy bear sounds cute.

    Have a great day!

  5. @Lori - Thank you so much for your kind words about "Vengeance and the Offending Page." I've had a few brushes with suicide grief myself, though at more of a distance. I've had more than one good friend with much more immediate exposure, though, and I tried to draw on what I understood about their experience to fuel the MC in that story. It was extremely rewarding to hear you say it worked for you in that level.

@Summer - haha Thanks! I've actually thought more than once that it would be fun to work in advertising, but I think the actual profession is grueling. I've always enjoyed creating brands and advertising, though. :)

  6. So, last night, I read your story. And loved it! Having death surround you to feel alive is such a different way to look at life and that job. Have you ever seen a UK TV show entitled, Silent Witness?

  7. @Clarissa - Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it.

I have not seen Silent Witness. I'll have to look for it online.

  8. @Summer - I have marked down your preference. :) If you quickly go read one of the flash stories on my website and leave another comment about it, you can increase your odds! ;-)

  9. I have a tendency to like two very different parts of Halloween: 1.the All Hallow's Eve part, giving thanks for all the past saints of the church (and for a protestant like me, saint means anyone who believes in Christ as their savior) 2. The fun dress up, harvest the candy from the neighbors with my kids and carve the pumpkins part.
I also happen to enjoy Scooby Doo cartoons, and plan to dress up as Velma this year . . . even though the kids won't go along and be any of the other characters.
So a story with saints, prayers, dress up, pumpkins, candy harvesting and Scooby? Or is that just too crazy?

  10. @Tyrean - hahaha Awesome. You just squeaked in! I'm gonna randomize in a couple of minutes. If you win, I'll be happy to tackle that list! :)
