But because I posted on Sunday, I didn't post yesterday, so I feel like I should post tonight. But I don't want it to be anything too earth-shattering since I have another post going up in the morning.

In other news, every time I watch Deep Space Nine, I remember why I used to write sci fi. All benefits to focusing on my genre duly noted, there's just something powerful about being able to manipulate an entire universe against your poor hapless characters.
Back to books for moment, it's recently been announced that RJ Ellory's next release in the US will be A Simple Act of Violence. RN Morris has released a small teaser of the cover for his next book, The Cleansing Flames. And while there's no cover art yet, you can pre-order Jennifer Hillier's debut thriller, Creep.
Okay, Tex Mex Hotdish. This is what Minnesotans would eat if Minnesota were in Mexico. In a baking dish, one layer of ground beef, browned with diced onion. Next, a layer of corn, rotel, and green chiles. Next, a layer of cheesy salsa. Finally, the layer of tater tots. Then bake per the tater tot directions. It's not health food, except for putting a smile on your face.

ReplyDelete@Clarissa - Rotel is a canned product, diced tomatoes and green chiles and a few things like that. Pretty Mexican flavor. But, no, I don't think you can get this dish in Mexico. haha And, yes, you did Facebook me! Thanks!

@Tim - It's next on my Ellory purchase list, and I'm trying to decide if I want to wait now for the American release. I almost hate purchasing UK authors' through re-sellers since I know the authors don't get any royalties from that.
ReplyDeleteRotel or Ro-Tel is a a mixture of diced tomatoes and mild green chili peppers. It's sold in the US in a can and it's great for adding some basic Mexican flavor to meals.
Tater Tots... Potato --> Potater --> 'Tater --> Tater + Tots=little kids
Tater Tots are a potato confection. Essentially shredded potatoes and a little shredded onion formed into a little cylinder that is compacted and then fried.
If you have hash browns in the UK, think of hash browns that are compressed to the form of a pencil eraser.
p.s. I was wondering if it would be you or Frances who would ask about the Tater Tots. :)
